Upon logging in later on today I came across a search bar in the upper right hand corner of my screen above the my friends group box.
Since I was in the mood for some food (felafel's to be precise) I decided to do a test search and see where the "rabbit hole led me."
And to my surprise, the Google team has revamped the entire search arena as you can see below.
Users can choose to search all of Orkut or simply choose either the profiles or forums. You can also expand the search (within profiles) if you are looking for something a little more specific...
...as well as change the language settings of your search as well.
Although these are only cosmetic changes, they should make searching throughout the deep blue forums a little bit easier.
Now only if they could enable users to Google within the forums themselves.
