Not so long ago Orkut rolled out Google Ads across the forums in order to make those unfriendly donut errors go away (something I am quite thankful for).
Now it seems that the Orkut team has placed a tiny link near the bottom of your screen allowing businesses to sign up directly and advertise on Orkut.
However when clicking on the link, you are brought to this page that will be very familiar to anyone who uses ad sense (like me).
Basically when you see this link points to an Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up which allows people to sign up and place ads on your site via Google earning you (if they click) more revenue.
Usually Google has a link like https://adwords.google.com/select/Login or http://www.google.com/ads/ allowing users to sign up with Adwords.
Although Google Groups has a "See your message here," link, it points to the previous mentioned links above.
Orkut's sign up link seems to be more suited for individuals (or businesses) and my question is whether Orkut (the founder) is making six figures off of the forums or if it is split between everyone on the team? (and that would include Ellen)

hmm... I don't know really what you are talking about. Haven't seen any advertising in orkut at all, ever, except for that nike-orkut thing. Can't find this "advertise with us" at the bottom either.
Maybe they do this only in countries where Orkut is popular?
Or are some people simply excluded? What could it be?
Orkut is testing the ads right now (as well as working on a host of other features).
As far as I can tell, Brazil, India and the US have ads, although whenever Orkut is working on the server the ads go down (along with maps).
This is a trick many people use. They let the community grow to a certain level before implemeting ads.
Orkut helps Google earn, I know many how shifted to google mails because of orkut. Now gmail means more ads and more money for google.
Well yes i could see few sponsered link ads in orkut..and also we should not forget that orkut gives a opputunity to download videos from You tube so in this way people also comes to know about youtube and youtube makes more money because of more browsing by the users of orkut. in this way i guess orkut also get paid from youtube. and it can also be a major source of income.
