With 2008 quickly coming to an end, it looks like Google has been rolling out its new holiday theme for Indian and Brazilian users (which makes sense as the majority of Orkut users come from these countries).
Here is a snapshot of what the Brazilian theme looks like courtesy of Gaurav Dua of Orkut Plus fame.
I am not yet seeing this in my profile, although I have not heard any of my American friends via Orkut status mention this at all (which could indicate that Google may be skipping out on their friends in the US :-( ).
If anyone else sees this in their profile, feel free to tease me about in the comment section below (as well as share you likes/dislikes about the theme).
Exit Question: Since Google seems to be geo-locking themes, does this mean that they are giving up on Orkut appealing to Americans?

The profile is sponsored by "Oi", a Brazilian cell phone operator. That's why it's not available in North America.

the xmas green theme was ok...
but this new year orange/red theme is very annoying for my eyes..
@ Roberto: Hmm...I never knew that a company could sponsor an Orkut theme for millions to see. I wonder how much that would cost?
@ Shogun: Really? I hope Google gives you a way to turn it off. At least you can view it.

Unbelievable! How it is possible that one news so atractive for the majority of the orkuters, as be able to settle severals skins into profile, and it is just for indians or one part of the memebers, instead to give all over the world the new functionality??
Today, even more, it is difficult to maintan an orkut account because, except Brazil and India, Orkut members is almost insignificant in Europe, for example.
A real example: Me, spanish, european man, I have 15 friends in Orkut (13 brazilians and 2 eurpeans like me) against 81 into Facebook.
My opinion is Google must to do something revolutionary with Orkut, in order to extend or if not, Orkut will die, absolutely. :(
