First question I got is Anyone with first-hand experience? Are green tea, Medifast, B-complex successful in raising metaboli Many thanks for any answer. My other question... Are any members vegetarians or vegans? I had been vegetarian for a while with a fairly recent switch to veganism and had been doing okay with the diet. However, I've been doing some.

Research.

And have heard mention that soy products should be eliminated from my diet. Since I am in a mildly painful (and extremely inconvenient) relapse right now, I'm wondering if it could be all the soy I consume (primarily in the form of soy milk and tofu). Although I try to limit my soy consumption (switching to almond milk when possible, etc), I still probably consume more than the average human..

Does anyone have any non-meat, non-soy-based replacement suggestions? I'm beginning to feel like I'm.

Running.

Out of things to eat...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could answer your Medifast question..

I appreciate your input. However, I have been relapse-free for many years despite not eating meat. In speaking with my previous doctor, I learned that it is very possible to maintain a "balanced" Medifast diet without the addition of meat. I consume a variety of foods that fulfill most vitamin needs and tofu/soy products to fulfill my protein needs. In addition to that, I also am well-supplemented with vitamins, etc..

Although I am glad you offered me your advice, my question is not related to whether or not my veganism is good for me (this I have determined already with the aid of my doctor,.

Research.

And personal experience) but in what ways I can get supplement my Medifast diet with proteins other than soy...

Cool, just wanted to pass on what my Dr.s told me. I had tried a special Medifast diet previously and it caused me more issues.....wanted to help someone else try to.

Avoid.

What I had to go through :).

As far as the Soy goes, I would not be surprised if it is causing the "flair"..

Soy could be a trigger.. maybe try and cut it out for a few days and see what happens.. Since being diagnosed I cannot do soy or dairy as it makes my symptoms worse.. perhaps once your flare up is gone you can try and get protein from nuts( if your body can handle it) without reaction...

Good luck..

Hm. I've been consuming soy for as long as I remember and haven't had too much of a problem with it. Have any of you had that happen where a Medifast food that once wasn't a trigger Medifast food becomes one?.

Guess I'll hit the store and stock up on the almond milk.....

Hmm, well maybe try going off soy just for a few days and see what happens.. I can tell you I have always been able to do cheese and ice cream until the last few months and now lactose intolerant.....

Have you tried other well-cooked beans? Beans & some kind of grain that you can tolerate will provide you with complete protein. Have you tried humus (ground chick peas, i.e. garbanzo beans, with sesame butter, etc. - you could make your own humus so it contains only the ingredients that you can tolerate). Our doctor says that whole grains are ok as long as they are ground into a flour (like brown rice flour, whole wheat flour, etc., there are lots of whole grain flours available). This may depend on your condition, so check with your doctor first.

Perhaps this would be more easily digested? Just a thought. Also, maybe try various nut butters (almond, sesame seed, etc.) with whole grains (flour)- I think this combo is a complete protein. Good luck...
