I had a similar problem with Paypal and corrected it by upgrading my 'basic' paypal account to the 'premier' paypal account. There is no cost to do so, but the premier account allows for multiple currencies and uses the currency the customer chooses on your site..

I checked the default currency in the english.php file and have changed it from USD to NZD, and tried to checkout again and no change. Still requesting payment in Paypal US Dollars.

Any more ideas how to fix this?.

Note we also have a Paypal business account.

Does your default currency(NZD) also reflect that in.

The osc admin panel under LOCALIZATION>>CURRENCIES?..

Pay Pal did an upgrade weeks ago, which caused major problems for people..

Basically USD worked but no other currencies were working..

Or it could just be that it is your Pay Pal account itself that is set up to only accept payments in US Dollars. Check in your Pay Pal account..

Take a look at this post it may help. I had the same problem with GBP kept getting US dollars in paypal. You may have currency code wrong..
