Yep, but... you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm this as I am unsure. Better yet, why don't you email the Medifast guys because they can help better...
I don't do dairy because I am lactose intolerant and have started using Soy. My hubby has Crohn's and he is fine with it...
One reason not to use soy products is that a lot of soy is genetically modified, which some say tends to lead to auto-immune disease....Go figure! If you use soy, I would suggest making sure it says non GMO on the packaging...
I'll preface my comment with what is normally said before a comment: we all react differently to different foods so you just never know and you'll have to see how different foods affect you..
For me personally, I consumed a ton of soy products: tofu, soy milk, fake meat, etc. I had a flare-up recently and decided to try cutting out soy from my Medifast diet temporarily. Being vegan, it's difficult to not eat soy. So I looked at my Medifast diet and discovered that most of my soy was being consumed through soy milk...so I've changed that out for almond milk and eat other soy products in moderation. I've been feeling better but now I have to be super-cognizant about getting enough protein through other sources..
Good luck!..
I would have to agree with what everyone has said so far here.. I personally do not do soy or dairy, it tears my stomach into a horrible state, this is all since the crohns thing started 4 months ago.. I would prob. just try it and see how your body responds to it, good luck!..
It depends if your intestines can handle it. They say not to because it is a bean. Beans are usually to gassy for us...
Im not able to use any form of soy it really bothers my insides, Ive tried it a few times with negative reactions of course I didnt grow up on it so I dont feel like Im missing much...
Soy contains a chemical that is similar to estrogen (sorry, can't remember the name of it at the moment) and that estrogen-like substance affects your intestines. I have been buying almond milk for my b/f with Crohn's and it seems to be a much better choice...
I can drink all the soy milk I want and it doesn't effect me... but if I drink a glass of milk I am in pain for 2 to 4 days lol. It really depends on your body.. and if your not sure you should definitly start out small and try. Thats the beauty of our disease... trial and error...
I love soy- like soy milk and soy nuts. but it will effect ppl differently...
