Well, Google does everything (serahc, mail, social web, news, maps, routes, ads, spreadsheets, weather, calendar, video, .....). I´m not surprised that they´re not rouling every market there is.

Recently confidential news from Google Development HQ are already prepearing the roll out of Google WAVE. I know, this is not confidential but what it is, is the fact that Google have already take the decision of shut down Orkut by "transferring" all the Orkut accounts into new Google Wave profiles/accounts.
Anyway, maintaining a social network, just for 2 countries, all over the world, and with Facebook pressing so much, it is make no sense at all.
So, Orkut will be "progressively shut down" first quartier 2010, when roll out of Google Wave was on.

I used to spend a lot of time on Orkut. I liked it but unfortunately many of my friends did not use it and with the rise of facebook, i no longer bother with it.

My sister still uses it to stay in touch with friends that she met on a trip to Brazil a few years ago. So i guess it is still relevant to some.
