Gene put it very correctly. Besides, you have to look at what is "politically correct" nowadays (I use that term, not saying it is the same as "morally right" - IT IS NOT!). You can say "black power" and it can, for the most part, be taken as simply meaning the enpowerment of the race towards it's betterment in society. Try saying "white power", and everyone thinks of racism or NeoNazism. It is a truelly sad fact, but that is what our society has come to. The "black vote" is a minority vote, and hence there is a need to get those minorities out to make what % of the total vote they make-up count for something.

GreatDomains wasn't being racist. They simply are looking at what society does, and hence what domains may 1) sale for the high figures 2) not cause them a controversy. As Gene stated, I would have done the same. And that's how any US court would see it (not to count GD has the legal right to list - or in this case, not - list whatever they want)..

Perhaps they didn't make the decision based on racial prejudice but on business grounds? Many companies will avoid placing involving themselves in anything that might prove to be controversial..

Lets say the name has value and sells for a high price on their system. Someone out there will take offence at it and they will catch the fallout for it being on their system? Perhaps it's not simply not worth the potential negative publicity for whatever they might make off the deal...

Well the whole thing has pretty much been explained there is no real push from the government or anyone else to get the white vote. There is a push for minority votes whether it be black or hispanic (which are the largest minorities) in the US, which could give the blackvote HostGator a higher value. Personally I don't think the whitevote or blackvote domains are that great, but if I had to pick one it would definitely be blackvote for now..

White domains (non-racist) could become popular in the near future though since I notice a lot of people are feeling the reverse discrimination that is part of the US. I agree there is a lot of discrimination towards whites more specifically the non-rich whites..

I have an example for you guys, I'm a hispanic and when I was younger (pre-teen years) I was denied some government help because I wasn't a black hispanic. I was classified as a white hispanic due to my skin color. The funny thing is I told them I was a black hispanic (I'm not) and just off of my word they accepted me into the program. I think now they changed a lot of things where all hispanics are basically classified the same..

In general the laws are made to protect the minorities and not the majority in this country. A lot of American's are taking notice. I'm a minority and even I take notice. The good thing about me being a minority is I can make a big stink about this stuff and never get accused of being racist (I'm not) and a white American does the same thing and they are a racist. The reason I say it's good is because I can speak my mind, but I do feel bad for those that have to keep their mouths shut for fear of being called a racist. I have a lot of black friends and most of my friends (offline) are hispanic and I make these same points to them and some agree, they just won't say anything because it benefits them..
