I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..
It is so difficult to watch suffering... it is something that just kind of.
Stays.
With you forever. I don't get it either although I did hear a saying once I totally agree with: "If slaughterhouses were made with glass walls, we'd all be vegetarian." I completely agree...
I guess I shouldn't be, but I am shocked that you ran across it on UTube. I'm glad I didn't run across it. I know it's out there. I haven't eaten meat for over 15 years for ethical reasons. Many people regard animals as disposable and "less than." I used to live in the country and the number of animals dumped in the country to fend for themselves is sickening..
Justine, I haven't heard that quote before re: the slaughterhouses, but it is true! I have heard the Bernard Shaw quote that if everyone had to kill their dinners, more people would be vegetarians..
I guess I am an optimistI still feel there is hope! And I feel the day is close at hand. More and more and more people are awakening spiritually, and our vibration levels are rising. I live for the day when we all recognize that we are ONEincluding.
All.
Life on this planet...
Opinion:.
There is no 'human race'...just people. And the only person you have a CHANCE of changing is yourself......and thereby promote true love and peace to others....and provide a good model. Concentrate on what you can do - and be at peace my friend..

Defiinately good feedback. Humans are just that and not perfect. I choose not to eat meat. Whenever I did eat meat over the last couple years, I felt immediate anger in my body. I could only imagine that it was because the animal was in terror and that transferred to me. No thanks.
Anyway, that was a long time ago and pre-raw. It is amazing what the living, vibrant Medifast food will do for a body. I'm invigorated and energized each and every day. There is such variety that I never imagined. What a blessing to have found Alissa's site, purchased her book and DVD and never looked back. Not perfect, but loving the journey..
Kathy..
Thanks for bringing up this topic..
I went through a really bad depression last winter and I recognized that most of my depression was from the lack of control I had in preventing animal cruelty. My funk became so bad that I finally went to see the doctor; she tried to put me on medication. Then, in August, I found raw foods. It has made me feel like I have power and impact in helping animals..
As a side note, about a month ago, my parents had to put down on of their dogs. He had a brain tumor; he was in really bad shape. My dad took it very hard. He called my crying a few weeks back because he missed the pup so much. He went on and on about how he loves animals (he does), etc., which led to a discussion about eating meat. Note: He's the second oldest of 8 and his ENTIRE family is obese.
My uncle died of a massive heart attack at 48 and my other uncle had a massive heartattack and lived. Anyway, I asked my dad, as an animal lover, how he could eat meat. I mentioned that, if he every watched a slaughterhouse video, he'd never eat meat again. Seriously, I don't think he would eat it. He refuses to watch the videos..
Mel,.
Believe it or not, I was one of those dispicable humans working to dispatch animals in a meat packing plant. I was much younger, like 18 and 19 yrs of age working summers between my college years. I am now in my 50s and do not want to step foot inside any such facility. The cruelty is every bit as bad as you see in the videos and then some. Like clubbing an animal with a pipe to make it behave. I will not go on as I do not want to recall it..
Many people also do not realize what they are eating in a hot dog or almost any processed meat product. I saw what goes into the sausages and hot dogs. I also saw disease in animals that is cut out but the rest of the animal is sold as edible meat. Hard to believe but true. The 'unfit' for human consumption meat went to dog food..
Today, if I see a snake in the yard, I will not kill it when I hear others say, oh, a snake, kill it. All creatures have a place on this planet and have as much right as me to be here. Someday, it might be 50 or 100 yrs from now, but most humans will say: 'yea, and remember we used to eat animals in the old days.'..
I can't watch any of those videos all the way through. I get very frustrated with people who say, if I had to think about where meat comes from and what animals go through, I wouldn't be able to eat it. Can you think of any other statement that could be as deliberately ignorant???.
I see our four-legged, feathered or finned coresidents as peers, equals and superiors - no way could I ever eat them, now that I am free to make that choice now. I was raised an omni, but became veg as soon as I could make my own choices..
Yeah....sigh, me too. I really do regard animals as peers, and more often than not as superior to humans! One example...seeing wild dolphins up close while swimming in Hawaii brought tears to my eyes instantly, they are SO MAJESTIC..
And, I have never looked into wiser and kinder eyes than those of the dogs I have been privileged to live with throughout my life...
It seems this topic is circulating around the board and I for one have felt a great source of support just being able to discuss this issue with like-minded people. We are all in this together! I was talking with my daughter about this issue and she said to me (she is 10), "but Mom, it doesn't matter if I stop eating meat. they are still going to kill the animals. what does it matter what one person does?" It was a valid question which turned into a long conversation about the power and influence we have as individuals, and the domino effects we create for good or evil. Like I said, we are all in this together! And I feel great every day that I choose not contribute to this cruelty or condone it in any way even if it is just simply by not buying or eating meat or other animal products. And if anyone asks why I eat a certain way, before even health, those animals come to my mind. One person can make a difference...slowly, but surely...
