Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Godaddy as they probably could give you an answer..
This thread is about the .jp extension. I am not sure if japanese characters would be available to reg with a .com..
I also Own a Japanese (IDN) .com.
Xns8j.com or ぉ.com..
Yes I forgot about this previous thread where you have a no-meaning character.com..
What I want to check on is .... where there is a direct translation: ie the Japanese characters for geisha.jp. Whether it is a separate registration for the English word geisha.jp. Is there a 2 for 1 here. I don't think so, but I am not 100% sure yet...
Yoshi do you recommend us registering english word names .jp (as english is a business language there I heard?) or just register japanese character names?..
Yoshiwara san;.
Do you have any special offer for englishword.jp as well (not IDN)?.
Domo...
The only offer for an.
Englishword.jp.
Is the standard one ie @ $70 ($75-$5 coupon) for the first name and $60 for subsequent names...
So in the japanese market will englishword.jp's do well? or should they all def be in the native language?.
If so then i'm interested in idn's instead of the english word pricing...
Not sure which to register yet from you please advise on the current market (english vs idn native)..
By the way, that Geishas.jp is so cool! Got it since the book, or the movie?..
IMHO, it depends on the end market for the HostGator name. If the end market is Japanese speaking only then go for the IDN version, but if the end market is international then go for the English version. Alternatively purchase both and forward the IDN version to the English version if you are going to develop a bilingual site. I am not sure of the value of stand-alone IDN HostGator names but a little research on GoDaddy might pay some dividends...
It seems like a good deal guys. If I was outside of Japan & couldn't read & write Japanese I would jump on it...
Is the pricing for .co.jp too yoshi??.
Olney how much does it cost you in japan to reg these? LOL (u can pm me)..
Anybody any country can own a .jp (proxy address provided by registrar), but my understanding is that you need genuine residency for a .co.jp, so if you don't then forget it...
