I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Godaddy as they probably could help you..
I feel it's easy to remember a .org HostGator than a .net HostGator name...
Domainers usually invest in .com and .net, but it would work in other extensions too, depending how fit the word that you're registering is with the extension...
The question was .org//biz/.info/.tv.
So why you all talking about the sure .com.
It is hard to find good .coms and.
I think the alternative are: .info or .us.
Not .org / .net / and sure not .tv unless you can find great 1word of them...
RWoolley - the top 6 are as follows (top to bottom) -.
.com.
.net.
.info.
.us/org.
.biz..
Thanks guys..was much appreciated..so the .info and .org are still good to invest in right? and yes I agree it's very hard nowadays to get a .com which is why I asked about other extensions..
Thanks for replies..
Couple of important considerations are: Whats your budget? and, Whats your preference; i.e. investing in very few high quality domains or speculating in a bunch of names with "potential"? As far as .com is concerned, anything with any potential has been long gone and the aftermarket prices of decent .coms are at pretty much at their peak too...so from a traditional investment standpoint, IMO .com is not a very attractive bet in terms of ROI since there's not a whole lot of margin left.....however, no one in his right mind will argue that it's the most widely used and well known extension. On the other hand, you can still hand-register domains with "potential" at registration cost in new tlds (.info, .biz, .us, etc) and also buy very good new tld names in the aftermarket (often) at bargain prices; the risk here had been whether these new extensions would take off but again IMO, it's becoming pretty clear now that these new tlds are not going anywhere and would continue to have their place in the name space. Another " investment" (speculative) opportunity is to take part in the roll-out of future tlds like .EU and .XXX when it gets approved...
Ok so are there more extensions on route then? ie .eu and .xxx it's all new to me tht lol..
That all depends on the person..
For ex. I dont own one .us but a lot of people love it....
For me:.
.com.
.net.
.biz.
.info.
.org.
.nl.
.be..
.com.
.org.
.us.
.info.
The 4 with the most long-term potential..
LOL this is what I mean sgllocal.
Everyone has a differant view on this ( and be glad we have that LOL )..
.co.uk is cheapest, but i'd say .net and .com are the best, and prob worth investing in..
