Im having a problem wich may be solved with an uppgrade..

The problem is that Im not sure what version I have and how to uppgrade..

This shop is probably a couple of years old and I just reinstalled it. I have done a lot of redisigning and really do not want to do it over again.

The problem I am reffering to is here:.

Actually, I cannot get into the shop admin. Im hoping to solve this problem after uppgrading.

I did some checking and has found that I can uppgrade to to 2.2 RC1..

I have downloaded the uppgrade html-file but if I understand it correctly I nead to apply the MS2-060817 update first (I do believe I missed that one)..

Im having a hard time finding this update. I found a link to it but it reffers to the osCommerce download section and it's not there..

Am I at least on the right track here?..

Upgrading from 2.2MS2 to 2.2 RC2 can more easily be done using this.

I'd work on getting in to your admin now..

Get it working before upgrading..

If there is no admin table what error message are you getting when trying to lg in?.

If there is an admin table is it empty?.

There is an admin table and it's not empty. In it's structure there is admin_id, admin_group_id, admin_first_name, admin_password (wich is encrypted) and so on. But there is no admin_usename or anything like that..

But some of the solutions Ive seen in other topics they speak of a table called administrators and som quiry that can reset the password but this is probably a newer version of oscommerce since I dont seem to have that table..

As for error message, I just get "wrong username or password" generated from the login.php. If I can get this problem solved, I am not sure I will bother about the upgrade. I just need to get into the admin part.

Sure... Can I do this directly on my version or do I need to apply the 060817 update first?..

Thanks for all your replies..

Uppgrading seams like a lot of work and I really want to get it right..

This is what I got so far:.

1) I should apply the 060817 uppdate..

2) I can then uppgrade to RC1 or RC2 or 2.3.1. (What is the better choise?).

But before I go to it, will this add an "adninistrators" table to my db so I can reset username and password to my store admin?.

After all this is my actual goal. To get back in.

No. Follow Jan's suggestion first. That will get you up to version 2.2RC2a. Then follow the upgrade instructions in the latest release to get you to 2.3.1..

This is not a full upgrade path. It will add in all of the essential changes, such as security updates, but what you end up with is not a full 2.3.1. If you want a full upgrade, you will need to do more work after that..

If you don't have an administrators table now, adding one will not fix your problem. You need to sort out your admin login issue before you upgrade..

Well, it seams there are no sollution for my version. All the sollutions I have found on this community seams to adress versions that have the "administrators" table and not the "admin" table wich I have in my db..

Im seriously concidering throwing in the towl..

That means that your admin table is part of an Addon. You can search through the Addons section for an Administrator function that has a table like yours. There is an Addon for multiple administrators that sounds like it could be yours. That will have instructions for rebuilding or recovering your table..

The other possibility is to backup your database, install 2.3.1, then import the database into your new store. You will need to resolve some differences between the database structures, but those are not that big. This would give you a new store with no Admin table (just delete it.).

I believe you are right about that addon. I may have used Admin_Access-2.2.

However there is no "forgotten password or user" on my login screen..

What if I drop the existing admin tables and run the sql file for the addon. Shouldnt that reset things?..

It might. I'm not familiar enough with that Addon to say for sure. Then again, I can't see how you would be any worse off by trying that..

Yeeehaaaa!!! Thank you Jim!.

As you suspected I found that I have the admin module installed. I run the sql file overwriting the existing tables and voila!!! Im back in..

Thank you, thank you, thank you.....

I would like to upgrade to 3.1 the instructions say better to do new install and use old db with the changes made. database is no problem..

But if I do a new install I will lose files that are in folders like catalog//images..

Can I just overwrite the old files (drop on top)?.

Maybe I can just delete and upload only the folders that do not store user files?.

I need to know what is the best way to do a new install and keep all the user entered files that are in the folder structure..

Thanks for the help.

You can overwrite your files with the 2.3 files, but you'll need to update the configure.php files by hand. You'll also need to update the database with the changes for 2.3..
