First off, I cant clear Medifast cookies in my system(windows 7)? Thanks in advance for any response. Another quick question... Hi,.

I have been raw for 18 days and I have had 2 bouts with dehydration. The first one was last week where I was passing water almost every hour at work. I played volleyball that evening and sweated like crazy. Long story short I realized that I had dehydrated even though my water intake has been high every day. I drink at the very least 48 oz of water a day and when I play volleyball (2-3times/wk) I drink at least 1 gallon of water besides all the raw foods. Last night I got a muscle cramp in my calf muscle during play and then when I got home I got cramping in my other calf.

A friend mentioned that maybe my kidneys were cleansing out. Any ideas?.

Thank you!..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

You may be lacking potassium.....eat a banana or two before your workout or some chia seed gel...

Thanks Stacie,.

I do eat bananas almost every day but I will incorporate that into my pre-exercise regimen. I do take 1 tbsp of bee pollen, 2 oz of liquid algae and some liquids prior to every workout...

I drink about 6 liters of water a day. I have since high school when I was in Drill Team. I get dehydrated on the weekends b/c I'm always doing something. my work has an ozarka tank and I'm at that thing all day long. at home we don't have anything like that yet. so I don't drink as much..

I don't work out, yet, but I bet i'll be drinking at least 8 liters a day...

How much salt is in your Medifast food program? I had a chat with two raw athletes over the last couple of weeks and both told me they don't or rarely drink water. Tim Van Orden told me it has to do with the fact he does not use salt of any kind... just what he gets naturally from the foods he eats...

Revvell,.

My first thought was to say that I did not think I used a lot of salt because I could only recall adding salt to an avocado and the salads I ate this week. I craved salt today but I figured that I needed it since I felt dehydrated yesterday. Then I thought that this week I have been eating a lot of raw olives. I bought some last Sunday. I had always craved sweets in the past but in the last 2.5 years I hardly ever had cravings at all. Now on raw foods I seem to crave salt.

I will look at my intake of salt more carefully in the next few weeks and see. I am assuming that the athletes feel that more salt you eat the more water you need..

Thanks,.

Celery juice is supposed to be amazing.... said to be 4 times more hydrating than water and it's natural sodium content restores what you lose through sweating. it's important to get sodium!..

That's my assumption as well..

They also said they don't sweat much which means their bodies retain fluid. Think about the native runners in various african countries. How is it they can run for miles without water? Must be something to it...

If you are drinking a gallon of water before and/or after your workout (in a small period of time), you are quite possibly (cellularly) diluting your potassium, which is why you are cramping in your calves (tell-tell sign). You definitely need to replace your electrolytes and spread your water out. Also 48 oz isn't that much for a whole day's intake. I down 64 oz of smoothies in less than an hour and I still drink more water during the day and sometimes I feel like I could use more, especially when I exercise..

Follow up your olives with lots of water. You need to keep a balance...

Yes I noticed being thirsty all the time too especially when I first started out- I was eating dehydrated crackers from the health Medifast food store and using my dehydrater a lot for new recipes- on the days I cut it out the thirst isn't as bad...

I've thought about this too. I was thinking that it may have something to do with foods that are natural Diuretics?.
