Really, hmmm, I made some last week and had to spit it out ! It was horrid and bitter ! Maybe I made a mistake somewhere, What was you procedure ?

Just a cup of sesame, 4 cups of water - all in the blender, took a couple of minutes and then I strained it..

The pulp is slightly bitter because I didn't add any sweetener, but I like it that way..

Hey madmel..

Did you soak the sesame seeds? Or just use them without soaking?.

I really need to try a seed milk, because my daughter's school (like most in the area) are nut-free so I can't send her with any nut-milks to drink..

Hi RawFoodieMom,.

No, I didn't soak the sesame seeds - I just blended them quite long time (only a regular blender) until the water turned whitish and the seeds were "broken"..

Tastes good, I didn't use any sweetener though..

Nut-free schools? Why's that?.

Too funny, I jumped on here this evening to post a ? about sesame milk. I made my first batch last night and loved it! I then blended some sesame milk today with dates and raw carob powder and a little bit of vanilla bean...YUM! Anyway, was wondering if I should be buying hulled or unhulled sesame seeds...or does it matter? I used hulled last night. Thanks!..

I have no idea if mine were hulled or unhulled.

But I am happy you share my experience, ljcoolj - it's a tasty thing, isn't it?.

Very tasty...I was surprised by how much I liked it. I used some in a smoothie too...that was very yummy. I've been on a binge this week with trying some new things. I've been away from raw for awhile and am trying to get back on track. I made a wonderful gazpacho today that I found in '12 Steps to Raw'...as a matter of fact, I think I better go eat some and blend up some more milk!!..

I use sesame tahani about 2 heaping tablespoons and 2 cups of water with a bit of cinnamon and some raw honey and a banana. I drink this almost everyday...

I made seasame milk after reading madmel's post since I can easily get them here..

I have to agree with who ever said "it must be thrown out." gross. I even tried to sweeten it with honey. NO GO!.

I'll stick with fresh coconut milk..

It's funny, I used to sweeten all my nut milks when I first went raw, now I just drink them plain. The bitterness doesn't bother me anymore. Even with sesame milk...

Unhulled are more nutritious (about 9x as much calcium as hulled, but similar in most other areas), but more bitter. Hulled seeds also go rancid more quickly...

Jorjeni,.

Your Medifast recipe sounds good to! Will try it out!.

I just had my morning glass of sesame milk - it tastes a bit bitter, but I totally don't mind. But I find many other things to sweet anyway..

Moonstone: Sorry if I tempted you to do something and it didn't come out right....
