A Muslim For A Month

In the Muslim Christian friendship forum, Ali shares with everyone an interesting video that he has discovered on Google Video.

The video sparks some interesting discussion.

David is unhappy with the video as they selected a Christian who seems to enjoy alcohol too much (although his pork comments were very funny).

John also seemed to enjoy the video and suggests Muslims should allow women to date non-muslim men, something Ali doubts would be practical due to "family tension."

Ali however would like to see more exchanges of faith take place and has this to say:

I too believe that there is much ground needed to be made on both sides of fence in the mutual understanding game. I, for one, would be very curious to know what kinds of responses would be received when random Muslim citizens are asked what their first thought is when hearing the term "Christian", for example.

I concur. More of this is needed and I would be interested in doing something like this (perhaps even switching places with a Muslim for a month).

Inside Orkut-Exploring The Jesus Faith

Although I posted question on several communities, the "I'm on fire for Jesus" forum received the greatest response. Earlier, I asked community what made Jesus real to them, and here is what they had to say:

(Mauricio) Jesus started to be real to me with my conversion (new birth) experience. I was able to notice great changes occuring inside me. [...] But I begun to see changes around me. My brothers and sisters, some of them drug addicts, experienced the new birth (conversion) just like me. Their lives changed completely.

(Blesson) Believe me once you commit yourself in knowing Him and yearning for Him, trust me, He takes control over your situation and everything. That means total help from a dependable supernatural being. What else can we as sinners can ask for.

Just like every other faith, Christianity has its rules, but from what I've read throughout this forum the religion is based mostly on ones relationship with a man called Jesus Christ. Within the forum, Mauricio points to something about this controversial man:

No human being could say what Jesus said, no human being could do what Jesus did. Therefore, either Jesus is a liar or he is what he claimed to be: God the Son.

This belief may explain why Jesus is such a hot topic inside Orkut, even more than President Bush. Philosophy and religious beliefs seem to play a strong role within the forums of Orkut, and one only has to surf the communities to figure out why.
