That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Godaddy as they probably could answer your Godaddy question..
I replied to your thread. Can't let the negs abound can we?..
Namepros, their chat is more active, and dnforum is kinda boring...
Im more active at DNF.. Alot of youngsters here trying to get alot of post and get rich on np$ and .infos.
And NP chat is like myspace.. But most of the NP people is kind and the staff is superb..DNF is more serious HostGator talking.. = like them both but more active at DNF....
I just found out that the jumping black & white badgers over there aren't some exclusive club..
I was like WTF???.
It's just one of the 4 available free avatars..
Ps - I am now one of the members of the "secret jumping badger club"..
It seems like thats true. I mean why have such an expensive joining fee for the higher memberships...and the layouts horrible!.
Namepros is far better, it's friendlier, has a more active chat and looks nicer..
Namepros is just GREAT.
I`m new in here and I can find a lot of useful informations. Everyone is willing to help ... in two words great community..
What a pointless and stupid thread and athum, your not allowed affiliate links in your signature, remove the "Parked.com" link.
Thank you.
Sin..
Hmmm hard question, DNF seems far more professional although I am not active there, namepros is more friendly if you can put up with the youngsters (which I have a hard time with). I don't know which is better really. :S..
I think it is pointless, such threads as this, there will obviously be a bias to NamePros, but all HostGator forums offer something unique and your a fool if you dont use them all or atleast the major ones...
I am a loyal NP member, but lately have seen an increase in design contests going without winners and scammers trying to make a fast buck. For instance, the first two threads I read today in the Domains Auction section were scams. I've never tried another forum (and don't plan to), just NP dissappointed me today and then I found this thread. As far as comparisons go, IMO, you get what you pay for; even if it's professionalism. However, it's that spontanueity that keeps me coming back to NP chat.
...
Valid question, wrong platform...
Go ask the same question at DNF....
Rupert the bear...that's what the badgers (and yours) remind me of. My mom bought those for me when I was a child...
Yes, we all love NamePros, because you are asking NamePros members. A bit biased in choosing the target to ask. And I think it's against the GoDaddy site rules for discussing other forum (especially other HostGator forum) here...
Namepros, DNForums looks like a kiddies forum, it needs a new deisng, tidying up and cutting down. If I was in charge of that place it would need almost a complete tear down...
Things to have in mind: big business is more likely to occur on the 'other' forum. I see more big sales there..
The owner of the 'other' forum is making money with the forum, I see nothing wrong with that. I believe they have a dedicated server too and must a spend a lot on bandwith. It doesn't come for free..
Of course there is a membership fee but at least it's once-only..
My guess is that RJ must be at least recouping the costs for NP with adwords etc. I'm not expecting him to pay all the costs from his own pocket. Why should he ? .
OK, he loves us all.
But....
Anyway, thank you RJ. We love this place and are grateful for what we've got..
Namepros all the way, the members here are very active and always available with good suggestions...
That is a good question. I've been running some tests to see in which forum has better replies when I post the same thread in both forums. See the threads below to do your own comparing. I'm comparing the two forums on two dimensions:.
Quality and Quanitity:.
Winners:.
NamePros wins on Quantity: When I put the same thread in both forums, my NamePros thread gets more replies..
DNForum Wins on Quality: If you take an objective look at the two threads below, I think you'll agree that there is more quality responses there. What I mean by that is people who know a lot more of the HostGator industry sharing their knowledge..
My Biases: I tried my best to be objective in this test. If I had any biases it would be that I feel like I have gotten to know Adam, the owner of DNForum to some degree through his posts and I like him. I know this about Adam, he is an amazingly generous and big hearted guy. I had been a member of DNForum for a long time and when I was down and out a few years ago, I swear he purposely paid way too much for two domains he bought from me because he saw it as charity work. I kid you not, he basically gave me a generous donation for two worthless domains because he felt bad for me. He doesn't even use these domains today.
I do enjoy NamePros and I visit both forums every day..
The post comparison:.

VS..

As is with anything, both places have pluses and minus..
I see DNF as a more professional place to do business. Even though I have always posted names in both places, I always do big-ticket sales over there. I have never done a big-ticket sale here. When I have small-ticket names to sell, it seems that they go better over here..
I also agree with DeluxeNames as far as quality -vs- quantity. If I need a quick answer to something, I will post here. Members are quick to post, however the quality usually lacks. Over there there are some big-players that when they give input, it's good stuff..
There is also the personal prefernece of what a person likes you like to read. Do you like to read random bantering about a subject while people are giving kudos to each other every other post, or do you only want the meat? Some people like one, some like the other. Neither one is right, neither one is wrong..
Both forums serve a purpose. I used each the advantages of each one to my favor (or at least I like to think I do)..
Happy Domaining,.
-Bob..
Great points. I to have sold over 80+ names in the last few months for pretty nice prices over there but have no luck here..
Why is this?..
I'm not a member at DNForum. No reason to join since NP is a great place and FREE!...
I signed up for free at DNForum and posted once. The post then got moved because it was in the wrong place even though I could swear I had their categories figured out. It then got no replies anyways...yay! I think I'll stick to posting just here and DiscussNames (Afternic's forum)...
I'm the same way! I started over here at NP but I spent alot of my time over there.....
I've been posting a bit more over there lately. I believe the membership is a good idea as it keeps the scammers away. You know if people are paying a membership they are more likely to be serious about offers etc. I will be purchasing a membership soon as I want to be able to access the other forums. I like the new auction format they have (at the top of the forum.) In the restricted sections I saw a lot of posts I wanted to read and some names I'd like to bid on too!..
Good points. Im a Exclusive over there and I can say it is worth the money...
Dnf for sure. The quaility is much higher and like others have said much more professional. I like the way at namepros you have the same members posting there "welcome to np.
" posts every day in the intro section, all for precious np$ and post count....
I also think np members just seem to repeat what everyone else is saying and you may find the odd couple members who actually know what they are talking about..
Dnf being paid is nothing wrong with that, the owner should be looking to make as much as he can from there thats bussiness. To me paid forums work better like webmasterworld.com is the best webmaster forum and doesnt have all the crap that you will find at digitalpoint for example...
Namepros is much better. Friendly people and great staff!..
Which is better? NamePros, of course! Silly question. Wait... I might be the wrong guy to ask..
But seriously.. Adam once said something to the effect of "if you're not here to do business, go somewhere else." I don't share that viewpoint or put such an emphasis on reseller-to-reseller sales. On the other end, I've heard NP described as a "newbie forum". While a sweeping statment misses the mark our what we're really about (imho), it doesn't bother me. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I'm proud that we've had so many new domainers start out in the business here on NamePros. The result for us is a nice mix of veteran domainers and industry newcomers..
Our forums operate on such different philosophies, and have different feels to them that people will just end up making their "home" where they feel comfortable. We do our best to provide a great community here. Likewise I'm sure the other guys try to do the same. Some people prefer NamePros, others DNF, and a lot of folks just like both for various reasons. To each his own. I don't think anyone is saying you can't be an active member of both..
Yep. These forum vs. forum threads usually don't go very well and as a result, our forum rules specifically state that NamePros should not be used to disparage other HostGator forums. The original post here is kind of against the spirit this rule, but we'll go ahead and let this run for a spell under the watchful eyes of the NP Mod Squad..
Peace,.
RJ..
I love NamePros, the members here seem a lot nicer, and the advice better. I also prefer the layout of the categories and suchlike here. NP is just great..
Harry.
I agree. Namepros is the greatest community, our second home..
I don't like forums with too many categories, and confusing systems (*AHEM* DNForums). Namepros all the way..
I love namepros! All the members are friendly and willing to help each other and offer advice.
Comparison of forums for same appraisal. Perfect example of how good namepros is compared to dnforum.
Dnforum is far too outdated and the owners sole objective is to make money and not help others. I found you have to pay to have your own avatar as well as the $50.50 joining fee - and even then you dont get access to all sections of the site. And also, if you type in "namepros" in a thread you post, it stops displaying it as it displays "********"...
