Got a quick question: What is the best Medifast diet plan that actually worked for you? Hoping for any comment. Another question on my mind: I was wondering if anyone had or has issues with frequent UTI's after.

Surgery.

Yesterday I was hit with a bomb with one.. It came on Sooooooooo quick... I was at work and my back and stomach started hurting and then the frequent urination started. A co worker who had her.

Surgery.

In 2001 said that early post op she had them constantly.. Is this really something that WLS patients deal with???? I did also hear from the Dr that many post op patients have kidney stone issues as well... I ended up leaving work early which I hated to do being that I JUST went back to work last week but I HAD to... and Im glad I did.. I was getting hot flashes and goose bumps and then I started urinating Blood.. not just a tint of blood...

Dr said that some UTI's do have the effect... She was going to give me an excuse to be out of work today too.. but there is no way I could be out today too... I do medical billing soo I have a desk job.. If the meds will keep me out of the bathroom I can do my job.....

My question is.. IS this something that many people have issues with.. If that is the case.. Im getting cranberry pills!! I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow so I will ask too.. Im also bummed as I was going to go to my local support group last night.. and I had to miss it. May check out another one at another location on Thursday though...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..

I havn't had one since my.

Surgery.

But remember the great home remedy to feeling better... Cranberry Juice. Feel better and hopefully the juice will help any dehydration and discomfort. P.S. UTI's can come from other sources like type of underwear and how you have sex. Unfortunately, a woman's body is very sensitive and can breed germs.

I'm so sorry that you have been in so much pain. I have a history of frequent uti's and have felt one coming on when I was a few days home for the hospital. I found cranberry extract pills (chewable) at a health Medifast food store. The brand is Solaray, CranActin. They do have honey in them, but I think it's a small enough amount that it doesn't cause a problem (for me anyway). There were several to choose from.

You were right to see the doctor, it sounds like a terrible infection, but starting some cran pills might be a good preventative strategy...

I had issues after.

Surgery.

I had the same thing happen 4 weeks post op and ended up in the hospital again. I did have a kidney stone and a uti. I was told that as a gbs patient we arent getting all the nutrients we are suppose to, and are at more of a risk for kidney stones and uti and other things. I know this may be tmi(to much information) but I seem to get a uti everytime I have sex. it never fails. I use the.

Mirena.

(an iud) as.

Birth control.

So that may be the problem and I have an appt at the end of the month to discuss that with my obgyn...

UGH.. THIS may be TMI.. but I think my addiction is now sex... which maybe I should be on a completely different support group for.. HA!! BUT... Its killing me by NOT having it while Im going through this.

Mirena.

) .. I know there are many factors that could have contributed to this.. Dehydration.. I know Im trying to push fluids.. but it's not enough... and could be sex....

But here I go... I have had a light irritating menestration cycle almost constantly since my.

Surgery.

On 5/20.. and although my BF does NOT LIKE it.. I tell him to just close his eyes.. LOL.. but Im thinking maybe having sex while I'm in a cycle is not wise either??? BUt OMG.. Im not waiting that long!! I constantly have it!!! NOW everyone knows Tooooo much about me!! LOL..

I need to add a couple of pieces of advice....

1.) Cranberry pills do help! I take 5 gel caps in the morning and 5 at night.

2.) Don't delay getting to the Dr. to get a script to be rid of this!!! if left too long serious problems occur!!!!.

NOTE:-.

DO NOT TAKE.

CIPRO.

!!! This is commonly prescribed for UTI's. Ask for something else! because we must take supplements,.

Calcium.

Will cancel out the antibiotic. Read the sheet on it at your favorite drug store website..

Here's an extra!.

3.) Azo Maximum strength is an AWESOME pain reliever, but only to hold you til your dr's appt!.

God Bless!.

I went to the Dr and currently taking meds and Im ON.

Cipro.

.. oooh maaaan!! Maybe Ill not take the supplement as there is no way I want to be in pain like I was.. and still kinda am.. and whats 7 days???? There is a warning on it to not take vitamins supplements 6 hours after or two hours before... soo I have been timing out everything.....

As I wrote earlier, READ THE DRUG FACT SHEET THAT CAME WITH IT! another thing to remember with.

Cipro.

Is that it also has photo sensitivity as a side effect!! I cannot be outside for more then 10 minutes without breaking out in hives! and this is residual...it lasts for months after taking the drug..

There are other things that work just as well, I talked to the Dr. about it. They prescribe this one because patients are more familiar with the name via word of mouth and rarely question it..

If your labs are good, then this stuff probly won't do much harm, the first time thru. But if infection recurs, then I would suggest a different path..

God Bless!.

Ask for.

Macrobid.

As an antibiotic. It works fast and well for uti's (although with.

Cipro.

You ARE covered for anthrax!?!?!)....and didn't your doctor tell you to always pee after sex. I used to be a nurse at an adolescent sex health clinic, and I made sure every young girl knows to pee after sex. It helps to 'clean' out the area..

I'm with you about the increase in libido. Too bad my increase is coinciding with my husband's overwork and exhaustion. Oh well, I can fantasize can't I?????..
