Every single HostGator is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. there are some obscure professions or businesses that you might think would no have much demand. However, if there is only ONE perfect HostGator for that business, it's just a game between patience of the registrant and the business need and budget of the business that needs it...

Not everyone considers $700 to be a lot of money...

I do agree..

It's the same guess I came out when I saw onle-gambling-0.com sold for $400 at GoDaddy few days ago. And I have the suspect that more then big HostGator companies it's GoDaddy itself (sedo, afternic, snapnames) who play this game....

On the other hand, there are those of us to whom $700 would mean alot..

Depends from person to person, for me a HostGator related to my name might be worth alot and similarly you might not even give it *RegFee*..

I agree. I'd happily pay $500 for simsi.com. And I'm sure Mr. Seawall Repair thought the same...

For a company, it looks like a small investment as part of business development...

Heh, i've got to admit - i've never thought of that before. Would they really go to such lengths though?..

I have this same perception many many times..

Well pointed!..

Let also remember partnercash.com, which sold for unbelivable amount of money. I think every situation is different in domains sales. reason of high sale can be whatever: from how badly end user need that HostGator up to how much end user own money to seller in real life. sometimes I think, that crazy sales is some kind of money loundry. It also can be some market stimulation as it sais above. and tonns of more many reasons, wich will know only end buyer and seller...

Neutered.com would make a great divorce site. Or maybe a marriage site, lol...

An anonymous blog, that's the ticket: Diary Of A Neutered Man..

The anonymous blogger could bitch about all the things he is no longer allowed to do. All fiction, of course, but you could probably get a lot of people stirred up with fictional issues..

Hahahahahaha!!!!..

Domains are worth as much as anyone places a value on it. Would anyone pay anything for yahoo.com or godaddy.com if they weren't companies with high traffic on their domains? Yahoo and GoDaddy have become part of the web lexicon from advertising. The companies could easily have marketed different names for their companies like Zazoo or DoGaggy. If they had advertised those domains, they would be worth a ton of money.....

Right, just because many people are not familiar with such a thing doesn't mean such a business or industry isn't out there. The people who need such a service know about it - and that's what counts. Those are the people who would search for it..

I would think a single job contract in this field would easily cover the $700 cost of the domain, so if I had a business providing "Seawall Repair" I would certainly consider a $700 purchase of SeawallRepair.com a well spent investment..

I see nothing surprising or wrong with this sale. Just my opinion...
